About the Artist/Author

Beverly Kimble Davis was a native and life-long resident of New Orleans. Born Sept 12, 1952 in segregated Charity Hospital. She was a historian and self-taught artist & author. Her talents & gifts to the world lit many paths as she was a teacher of life who held incredible values and wisdom, leaving everyone she immersed in dialogue with enlightened. She earned her Bachelors Degree at the University of New Orleans as well as an MBA from the University of Phoenix. She attended Valena C. Jones Elementary, Rivers Fredericks and G.W. Carver Sr. High Schools. Cultivation of her craft began at an early age, adding to her essence as an artist identified from a young girl. She traveled the world with and was a member of the international organization "Up With People". They were considered goodwill ambassadors of the United States. She worked for many years at Dillard and Loyola Universities. However, her passion and life's work were her artwork and writings. Beverly was an internationally known artist, having received her first notable recognition in The Times-Picayune as a child. She has held several art exhibits in galleries throughout New Orleans and was recognized & valued in Europe as well. Among her Katrina related art she also wonderfully created landscape art paintings dating back to the 1960's. Her nature themed works of art are large scale with finely stroked, intricate details of oil and/or acrylic on canvas, many in New Orleans own City Park. Later in life she began having difficulty stemming from losing her vision, becoming completely blind in one eye & partially blind in the other, a visual artist's biggest heartbreak. Through the end of her vision she managed to still work on her art, slowly but surely through the frustration & sadness of the inevitable. Finishing her paintings and creating digital art pieces that spoke to her. Beverly Jean Kimble Davis also incredibly managed to complete her self-published book titled 'New Orleans' Katrina', all on her own, from the book cover design, to the full manuscript, and including her very own artwork in the book as well, and citing a plethora of pages of references & research that took several years of her efforts. She spoke with many victims and relatives of victims for first hand accounts of what actually happened. She had a way with people that gave comfort. It was her last passion project piece, and she finalized it & published it in 2021 after a long-awaited anticipation. She says, "Time will record what happened after Katrina. It was nothing short of a deliberate act of ethnic cleansing." Amongst Beverly Kimble Davis' greatest desires, was for the world to know what happened to the people in New Orleans during the aftermath of the flood. Authoring and publishing her masterpiece 'New Orleans' Katrina History and Law of Yesteryear in Force Today'.

Beverly Jean Kimble Davis, 70, entered eternal rest on September 22, 2022. Born to Allen & Venora Kimble Sr., she is one of ten children. Beverly is a mother of seven, a grandmother, and a great grandmother. She was a widow to Strother Davis III, a sister, a business life partner, a colleague and friend too many, many people who miss her dearly & who are still in awe the caliber of a person they know they will never meet again. Beverly Kimble Davis was the person anyone can rely on for expertise in many subjects, she was a traveled person with great perspective, insight and foresight. To say she was intellectually inclined is an understatement. There was nothing her mind couldn't do, or any problem she couldn't solve. Her heart was a rarity, and she was the most nurturing person you could ever wish to meet. In her loving memory, we plan to keep her mission and vision going at her request.
